Kullamannen by UTMB 2026
On October 31st I returned to Sweden πΈπͺ for my third Kullamannen by UTMB in a row π€©. After running the 100-miler in 2024 and 2025, I took on the 50K (Seventh Seal) this time and went all out ππ.

Nano Summary β‘οΈ
I had mixed feelings going in ππ
: part of me worried Iβd miss the βrealβ 100-mile challenge, but the 50K let me balance training with Lifting+WOD. Racing all out was a blast π₯, though I paid for it π: hamstring cramps stopped me several times, I slipped in the mud and tumbled down 3β4 steps, knocking the wind out of me π€. The stony beaches were as brutal as ever and drained my speed πͺ¨, but this time I kept jogging through them π. I finished in 5h23m43s and was glad not to be completely wrecked like in previous years π₯³.
My son Casper ran the kidsβ race while I was out on the course, so we both came home with medals π π (and I really like this yearβs medal π€©). I also earned two UTMB Running Stones π€ . My family cheered me on, though they missed me at Hovs Hallar because they were shopping and I was moving too fast π. At the finish, my daughter was the only one there in time; the rest of the family took longer to get there from the parking lot. My wife now says Iβm not allowed to run the 50K again because I run too fast for her to get her shopping done π.
Impressions πΈ
π Pre-raceβ¦
On Thursday, we drove to BΓ₯stad after work and school π. I picked up my race bib on Friday, then we all headed to GekΓ₯s Ullared for a proper family shopping trip ππ.

The tennis arena was buzzing on race morning πΎ. We saw the Kullamannen knight π΄, who leads each race out; Casper got ready for the kidsβ race, and my daughter joined me at the start π€©.

π Raceβ¦
The route wound over hills, past grazing cows π and old stone walls on the Swedish west coast, before the brutal, stony beach sections πͺ¨. Near the end, I met my family waiting by the car to cheer me on ππ₯³; my hamstrings cramped one last time just after I left them π .

π Post-raceβ¦
Finisher medal and a well-deserved beer πΊ. My daughter was the only one who made it to the finish line in time to see me π€©. It took the rest of the family a while to get there from the parking lot π . When they arrived, Casper and I compared medals π π , and the official result came in π. Back home, the new medal joined the wall π€ .

Recommended? ππ»
Absolutely yes π€©.
Kullamannen is a superbly organized UTMB event, with a fantastic route along the Swedish west coast: forest trails, cliffs, mud, stairs and those brutal stony beaches π. The 50K gives you the full Kullamannen flavour in one (long) day, and itβs a great family trip too, with a kidsβ race and plenty in the area for the family to explore while youβre running πΈπͺ.
