Copenhagen Marathon 2026

Short version: Copenhagen Marathon 2026 was epic 🤩 — and I missed sub-3 by only 16 seconds 😅.

Mads and I drove to Copenhagen on Saturday (day before race), stayed at Hotel Bella Sky, and picked up bibs at the expo. On race morning we met our colleague Nicolae and his wife Iana at the start area just in time 👌🏻.

Race day was pixel perfect: mild cloudy weather around 14–16°C and more than 22,000 runners. I started at 09:30, locked onto the 3-hour balloons 🎈, wore my ASICS Metaspeed Sky Tokyo Edge shoes 🥷, and took ~80g carbs/hour.

It actually went super well for most of the race. No real bonk, cardio stayed under control, and even the faster sections felt manageable. But at km 39 I got cramps 😬, stopped briefly, caught up again, and then got massive calf cramps in the final kilometer while seeing the finish line 🤣😖.

I grinded through and finished in 3h00m15s — 15 seconds over the magic mark. Still very satisfied 💪🏻😅. My main takeaway: I need more leg durability at race pace so the legs can handle the pounding all the way through the 40s.

The route through Copenhagen is amazing: major sights, music spots, and spectators everywhere yelling and cheering 📣🤩. Huge kudos to the organization and volunteers 👏🏻🤗.

Strava shows 42.75K at 4:13/km average, plus an unofficial marathon PB (2:57:36), a new 30K PB (2:05:53), and 3rd fastest half (1:28:31) 🚀.

After finishing, I chilled in Fælledparken with Nico, Iana, and Mads, had a proper Copenhagen durum 🥙, watched other runners, walked slowly to the metro 🚇, and then drove 3 hours back to Jylland 🚙🏠.

Nico and Mads also finished and looked proud and exhausted — exactly like me 😂.

Absolutely yes. Top tier race experience, fast route, amazing crowd, and super smooth logistics 🤩.

I’m already in the 2027 lottery and crossing my fingers for another shot — and for maybe even breaking 3 hours 🤞🏼🏃🏻‍♂️.
