Fussingø Trail 2025 - 48K

Sunday December 7th I lined up in Fussingø, Randers 🇩🇰 for the 48K edition of Fussingø Trail. I ran this race back in 2023 when it was a 25K event – this time I came back for the long distance and finished with a top-10 placement 🎉.

Before the Race

Cold morning, race bib collected, walking to the start line. At the briefing: 3 loops of ~16K each with ~350m elevation per loop, totaling ~48K and 1.1K elevation. We received an ankle timing chip. The sun rose as the race started – no headlamp needed.

During the Race

Beautiful green singletracks and gravel paths through the forest – classic MTB tracks. Very runnable, though it got muddy by the final loop. I ran with my vest: water, energy drink, gels, plus waterproof pants and headlamp just in case. My energy strategy was spot on (~60g carbs/hour) which kept me strong throughout.

As the day progressed, runners from the shorter distances joined the trails. I passed quite a few during loops 2 and 3.

Finish and Results

Very successful run! My average pace was even faster than my 2023 25K participation – nice to see such progression. Super proud of my top-10 placement 💪.

A fantastic winter trail race on MTB tracks through beautiful Danish forest. Fun, technical enough to be interesting, yet very runnable. Solid organization with clear markings and a well-stocked aid station between loops. Distance options (8.5K–48K) make it accessible for all levels. I’ll be back! 🏃‍♂️🌲
